In 2003, he started Nordica Fertility Centre in Lagos, pioneering a wide range of assisted reproduction services across the nation. The clinic specializes in In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and treatment of infertility for couples facing fertility challenges in marriages and has since inception expanded into 2 other major cities in Nigeria – Abuja and Asaba. It is also an affiliate of Nordica, Denmark.Driven by passion to help enhance the quality of medical service in his country, Dr. Ajayi went further to train at the Iscare Centre for Assisted Reproduction, Bratislava, Slovak Republic; The Institute of Human Reproduction Symbion, Fruebjerguej and The Fertility Clinic of Copenhagen University, Herlev Hospital, both in Copenhagen, Denmark.He also established a platform called the ‘Physicians Roundtable’ where doctors can network and stay abreast of latest breakthroughs in fertility management and reproductive technology.
Dr. Abayomi Ajayi (Host)
MD/CEO, Nordica Fertility Center, Nigeria
(BSc.) in Cell Biology and Genetics from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She later
concluded a Masters Degree in Clinical Embryology from the University of Leeds, United
Kingdom in 2015 with a distinction.
Her career began in 2008, when she had her internship at the Nigerian Institute of Medical
Research (NIMR) in Lagos where she worked with notable Nigerian researchers in the field
of Biotechnology and molecular biology.
In 2011, she joined Nordica Fertility Centre in Lagos, as a Clinical Embryologist; since then
she has concluded numerous trainings and courses across the world including Pre-
implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and Vitrification at the University College London, UK
and in Spain, Europe. She has also attended numerous conferences both home and
abroad. Her interest is in the field of genetics in ART as well as stem cell technology.
Driven by passion and dedication, she is currently a Senior Clinical Embryologist and Head
of the Genetics Unit in Nordica with over six years experience in ART performing up to date
assisted reproductive techniques comparable to international standards.
Mrs. Atiba has co- authored many medical publications and delivered numerous lectures in
various conferences across Nigeria.
She is a member of the Association of Fertility and Reproductive Health (AFRH), Nigeria.
She is also a Member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the
American College of Embryology (ACE).

Has given many invited lectures and taught in workshops and courses worldwide. Author/co-author of >160 publications (h-index = 40), including the books Practical Laboratory Andrology (OUP 1994), Quality and Risk Management in the IVF Laboratory (CUP 2005, 2015), and A Practical Guide to Basic Laboratory Andrology (CUP 2010, 2021).
In 2000 he and his wife Dr Sharon Mortimer established the Vancouver-based reproductive biomedicine consulting company Oozoa Biomedical. Major activities include designing new ART laboratories and cryobanks, performing Total Quality Management based reviews for optimizing lab systems, and product development for the ART field.
He currently serves as Scientific Advisor to Mellowood Medical (Canada), Planer (UK), Hamilton Thorne (USA) as well as several ART centres internationally.
